I am trying to do some studying on the development of Douglas and have an amazing book published for the Douglas Borough Centenary.  This is a book that reflects the life of Douglas and what the Council has achieved over the past 100 years or so.

Only on the other side of the world, in Australia, can a similar horse tram service be found, thus making the Douglas Horse Trams unique in the Northern Hemisphere.  It is a priceless piece of Victorian transport enterprise and a living museum which encaptures a slower and more leisurely way of life.  The horse trams also take their place in the Island’s rich transport heritage and will, no doubt, be clip-clopping their way into the twenty-first century.  Douglas would never be the same without them
